Wind and water cause erosion and weathering, or the breakdown of rocks. Water can cause mountains essentially to melt or to split and create beautiful valleys and picturesque landscapes. Wind can wear away mountains into beautiful arches, pillars, and other soft but dramatic features.
As water flows down these mountain slopes of granite, it brings with it small particles or pieces like sand and pebbles. These individual pieces can then be pushed together with pressure to cause a new type of rock, a sedimentary rock.
This is the same with our hearts and lives. The Holy Spirit is the wind and water that helps to wear away the rough edges of our hearts. Just as one rock is made from the breakdown of other rocks, so is the new man created after the break down of the old man. When we realize we are nothing but broken and worn pieces, only God can give us salvation and heal us. Only God can make us into something new. Think about when you knew you needed God’s gift of salvation. If you have not asked Jesus into your heart and life, talk with your instructor about God’s plan for salvation. Share your salvation story.
