Psalm 46:2

This week we will talk about how the Earth’s crust subducts into the Earth and how it is pushed together to build mountains.  One of the greatest places for subduction is the Mariana trench.  A subduction zone is a place where one of the Earth’s plates is pushed down beneath another plate.  This process can literally cause mountains to be carried out into the ocean.

Spiritually, this can relate to the high-minded or prideful being brought low; being taken from a place of great importance to a place of being unseen or unnoticed. Have you ever felt you were near to God, and then feeling you have been plunged into the ocean and buried beneath the waves?   Think about a time when you felt like you were high on a mountain, or very close to God. Then think about a time when you felt very distant from God.  Share a verse and how it was important to you during one of those low times.
